About Avevide
Avevide is a free library of deep-dive history. We take the big stories (the fall of the Roman Republic, the French Revolution, the Mongol conquests, the road to 1914) and tell them in depth, with the evidence, the disagreements between historians, and what the ancient and contemporary sources actually say. There are currently 18 articles across 3 topics, plus a glossary of 55 terms.
Avevide is published by Digital Nebraska, a company that builds websites and digital tools for local and Midwest businesses.
How we write our articles
- Facts — definitions, dates, versions, platform rules and who created which framework — are checked against primary or authoritative sources such as ancient authors in public-domain translations (Livy, Polybius, Plutarch, Herodotus, Thucydides), national archives and libraries, museum collections and university historians. They’re listed and linked at the end of each article.
- Each article shows the date it was last reviewed, and we revisit articles as guidance changes.
- We don’t invent people, quotes, statistics or case studies. Examples are clearly labeled as hypothetical, and we don’t accept payment to mention a product or company.
Corrections
If something in an article is wrong or out of date, please tell us. We’ll check it against the source and update the article and its review date.
